LGU Tboli prepares for Tnalak fest competitions

The local government unit of Tboli has been preparing as it sets to participate in the various events and competitions during the 2015 Tnalak Festival and Foundation Anniversary of the province of South Cotabato.

According to Municipal Tourism Officer Designate Rodel Hilado, who is charge to the events, the municipal government of Tboli has allocated a total budget amounting to P1,060,000 to be utilized for its participation in the festival.

Hilado also disclosed that the Municipality of Tboli will join in the three categories of the street dancing categories: the Madal be Lan with Lemsnolon Elementary School, Kadsagayan sa Lalan to be represented by Edwards National High School and Kasadyahan sa Kapatagan by Tboli National High School.

It can be recalled, Hilado said, that Lemsnolon Elementary School and Edwards National High School were declared champions for two consecutive years already and winning this years championship title marks their grand slam victory.

Wanting to ensure that the participating entries comply with the rules, guidelines, and mechanics, members of the monitoring team from the street dancing competition committee found their way to the three schools on July 7, 2015 in which they articulated some suggestions to enhance the performances particularly on choreography, music, and aesthetics of the dances without prejudicing the cultural values.

Hilado further revealed that each school is given P250,000 by the municipal government to be used for the production expenses such as costumes, props, sets, instruments as well as foods and honorarium of trainers.

Aside from street dancing, the municipal government also joins the Bahay Kubo competition, Awit-Dula-Sayaw or Adusay and the Basketball and Volleyball tournament where it has been qualified in the best of four. The municipal official and department heads have also been invited to participate in the Civic and Military Parade on July 10, where the newly-purchased all-terrain vehicles shall be showcased in the streets of Koronadal City.

This time the municipality of Tboli, along with Lake Sebu, however, does not have a candidate in the ‘Search for Mutya ng South Cotabato’ as its representative fell short of the 5’4” height requirement set by the pageant committee.

With the support the municipal government is extending, Hilado is determined that Tboli will maintain its performance in this year’s Tnalak festival. - by Bary L. Lugan
